How do you display wedding keepsakes without damaging them?
Keep keepsakes out of direct sun and damp, avoid glue on originals, and use acid-free backing inside a sealed case.
Protect them from light, moisture and adhesives. Most damage to paper, fabric and dried flowers comes from one of those three.
The basics
- Out of direct sun. Sunlight fades ink, photos and fabric over time.
- Away from damp. Avoid bathrooms, kitchens and outside walls.
- No glue on originals. Use photo corners, pins or stitching instead.
- Acid-free backing. Ordinary card can yellow paper it touches.
Matching case to keepsake
Flat items like invitations suit a deep frame with a spacer so the glass does not press on them. Bouquets and dried flowers do well under a sealed dome. Fabric, such as a veil or tie, can be folded around acid-free tissue in a shadow box.
Copies are your friend
If something is fragile or irreplaceable, display a good copy and store the original safely. You keep the look without the risk.
